New Shoes

Hi guys.

There's not much update on my ride except changing the worn out parts such as clutch pump and speed sensor. Other than that, i changed my old and heavy rim to something which are more appropriate to my liking and my car concept ; 15" Volk Racing CE28. Picture below:

Really like the rim design eventhough not as beautiful like my previous 16" rim. Btw, this rim is lighter than the previous one. It will give me an advantage during sprint/drag and also better fuel consumption =p What i need now is to change the tires to better tires. Maybe advan neova? toyo proxes? or just parada spec2 =).

stay tuned.

My Big Bro's Ride

Hi guys.

In today's post i would like to write about my brother's car. It is Toyota Corolla AE101. Pictures below.

Powered by 4AGE 1.6L 20 valves 4-throttle engine design by Toyota and Yamaha. This engine is well known for its ability on track and also touge. This engine in stock form can scream up to 8000 Rpm. The sound it makes during high rev is totally sweeeeeeet! This is the 5th generation 4AGE engine produced from 1995 to 1998 is the final version of the 4AGE engine and has black cam covers. This engine is fondly known as the "black top", and yet again features an even higher compression ratio (11:1), the air flow sensor is replaced with a MAP sensor, the diameter of the four individual throttle bodies was increased from 42 mm to 45 mm, the exhaust port diameter was increased, the intake cam lift was increased from 7.9 mm to 8.2 mm and the intake ports were significantly improved in shape, contour and also the width at opening at the head was increased. This revision increased the power to 165 PS (163 hp/121 kW) at 7800 rpm with 162 N·m (119 ft·lbf) at 5200 rpm of torque. Usually we can find this engine in Corolla Levin / Trueno , Sprinter Marino and Carina GT.

The Engine

Some modifications to the engine are:
  • + Custom 4 Throttle Trumpets
  • + Ultra Plug Cables
  • + DENSO Iridium Plugs
  • + Adjustable fuel regulator
  • + Fujitsubo Giken 4-2-1 Header (Coated)
  • + Apexi N1 muffler (JASMA Approved)
  • + 2.3 inch stainless steel piping + Fujitsubo Giken bullet
  • + TRD 3 Pucks Racing Clutch
  • + Cold Air Intake
Btw, he already planned to upgrade his engine to the next level when he finds the right time to do it =) and i know the time will come ! Toda Spec 4AGE!

Please, be safe.

To me and my dearest readers. I would like to dedicate this video to you. This is a friendly reminder to all drivers that we operate a machine that can kill, destroy, and maim not only our families but the families of others. This happens every single minute of everyday in our world.

Please drive safely.

Learn how to control your machine.

Speed doesn't kill but recklessness do.

The Gymkhana Guru With Captain Slow

Have you guys watch the new episode of Top Gear ( Episode 3 Season 13 ) ? It's worth watching! By the way, Captain slow a.k.a James May from Top Gear went to the land of Uncle Sam to meet the famous gymkhana guru a.k.a Ken Block. The new video of the arts of gymkhana by Ken Block below!

Apart form that, the show later joined by Ricky Carmichael. For you information, he is an undefeated champion dirt-biker for 15 times and widely hailed as the greatest dirtbiker in the world. For me this is the most entertaining segment of Top Gear in the third episode of season 13.

p/s: Ken Block FTW!

Compression Test

Last nite i went to my panel workshop to fix FICD ( fast idle control device ) taken from Toyota 4AGZE supercharged to control my car idling. After the camshaft timing process ( during overhauling job ), my car is very hard to idle especially i turn ON my air-conditioning. It is because they have set my camshaft timing to the maximum to fully utilise the high camshaft profile. Other than that, i asked my mechanics to tighten up my aircond compressor belt because sometimes i can hear it squeaking and that iritates me. I also change my air-conditioning compressor and add in new gas and condenser oil. After installing the FICD, i also asked them to do an engine compression test with compression tester.

I'm very happy to see the result. I managed to get the compression that i've targetted which is 19 bar in all 4 cylinders. I think all the money and time that i've spent on this project is worth it after all =)

After finish running-in period, i will send my car for tuning again and then will go for a dyno run to check the horsepower. Hopefully manage to get the horsepower targetted for this little naturally aspirated and variable valve timing -less engine. Haha! Viva all motor!

regards.

More Than Just Pretty Face

You have seen her in a lot of drift competition, Merdeka Millennium Endurance race and Sepang 1000 km race. Now, she challenged her driving capibility by competing in rally race. Leona Chin! You go girl!

I am very amazed with her style of driving and her enthusiastic in motorsport. She has proved to many of the woman/girls out there that woman can do more than what we as a man think they capable of.

Her favorite quote - I'm in control of the car. Not the car control me.

Engine Oil Cooler

Konniciwa.

Engine oil cooler is one of the must have item for those who love to whack their car on track days without sacrificing their engine reliability. So in today's post i would like to share some of the informations about engine oil cooler. Picture below is an example of what engine cooler look alike.

Engine oil cooler kit

Engines Internal parts (combustion) need lubricant in order to operate. In cars, that lubricant is known appropriately as motor oil/engine oil or whatever you call it. The key measure of a motor oil is its 'viscosity' . Viscosity is the state of being thick, sticky and semifluid in consistency, due to internal friction. When heated, motor oil tends to lose its viscosity; if the oil is heated far enough, it will thin out enough that it cannot serve its primary function of lubricating the engine's moving parts. Lubrication, however, is not oil's only function. It also serves as a coolant, transporting heat from inside the engine block to the oil pan, where it can be dissipated into the surrounding air. Problems arise when an engine is running fast enough and hot enough that the oil is never left in the pan long enough to properly cool. This usually happens suddenly, since engine temperatures rise with increased engine revs. As a result, engines that run fast and long are vulnerable to oil breakdown.

The engine oil cooler is one of the solution. An engine oil cooler is nothing more complicated than a separate radiator dedicated to the engine's oil supply. An oil line is run (usually from the oil filter adapter) to the oil cooler, which is placed somewhere in the flow of outside (cooler) air, such as behind the engine fan. Oil leaves the engine and then runs to the cooler, which is typically a finned metal block with passages through it for the oil. The increased surface area and cooler airflow cools the oil more quickly than the oil pan, and the oil (and engine) can withstand higher heat.

I've heard some people said that the engine oil cooler it is not good but i just can't accept that. If it is not good, then what's the reason of invented it? Or maybe you can share with us any cons of using it?

regards.
