Matspeed Specification Camshaft

Hi guys!
Last week, i sent my car to install matspeed camshaft for my MIVEC engine. Actually this was an unplanned modification but since there was a promotion for this camshaft, i can say i  ' accidently' bought it. haha. Pictures below.

Took out the OEM camshaft... first profile 228 IN 232 EX ; second profile 285 IN 300 EX

Fresh from the oven. LOL. The matspeed specification camshaft. I forgot the first profile spec ( maybe around 25+ IN 25+ EX ) ; but the second profile 306 IN and 304 EX.

almost done ....

DONE!

After that, i straightaway sent the car for dyno since i requested them to set the camshaft pulley on dyno machine ( i chose dyno dynamics roller ). Thank god the money spent is worth it. I managed to get 10whp increase. Overall i can say this camshaft is mild and not that aggressive if compare with JUN. The car still idle like standard and the engine wont stall even when  i  turn on the air-conditioning. No "brup brup" ( yeah actually a lil bit ) sounds if you get what i meant =D. I'm so happy with the increase in power. Thumbs Up!

Another Upgrades After Another.

Hi guys.

I sold my adjustable camshaft pulley together with my previous cylinder head last time. So, i have to find a pair of new one for my MIVEC. After a lot of window shopping from one shop to another, from one website to another , then i managed to find one that suits my budget. I chose from Arospeed ( just like last time ). I Chose it because, most of the tuners in my area choose to use this brand and other than that, this brand offers a lot of colors to suit your taste. It is easy to find in the market too.

i'm blue da be de da be da

standard camshaft pulley

Other than just that, i have to change my driveshaft since the current one wear off. You can spot there is some problem with your driveshaft if it gives you bad driving feel like what i experienced. The whole bode of my car tremble like hell everytime i passed 120 km/h. After i changed it, no more problem.

mmc oem part

When we jacked the car to change the driveshaft, i managed to take a picture of my bent header. Freaking mad. I accidently hit a speedbump. This is the result... and i am effing mad! haha.

congratulation!

HAHA. Enough with that. Btw, below is the picture after all of it finished.

voila!

The result after setting up the camshaft timing with the adjustable pulley? AWESOME. The engine pull harder. Absolutely better. Such a good upgrade. Worth the money spent. Thanks for spending your time reading this and see you guys in the next post!

Regards!

Compression Test

Last nite i went to my panel workshop to fix FICD ( fast idle control device ) taken from Toyota 4AGZE supercharged to control my car idling. After the camshaft timing process ( during overhauling job ), my car is very hard to idle especially i turn ON my air-conditioning. It is because they have set my camshaft timing to the maximum to fully utilise the high camshaft profile. Other than that, i asked my mechanics to tighten up my aircond compressor belt because sometimes i can hear it squeaking and that iritates me. I also change my air-conditioning compressor and add in new gas and condenser oil. After installing the FICD, i also asked them to do an engine compression test with compression tester.

I'm very happy to see the result. I managed to get the compression that i've targetted which is 19 bar in all 4 cylinders. I think all the money and time that i've spent on this project is worth it after all =)

After finish running-in period, i will send my car for tuning again and then will go for a dyno run to check the horsepower. Hopefully manage to get the horsepower targetted for this little naturally aspirated and variable valve timing -less engine. Haha! Viva all motor!

regards.

Cam Timing

Hi guys!

Nowadays, there's a lot of engine freakazoid equip their engine with adjustable camshaft pulley. They get the pulley and then send them for installation and set the pulley. From my experience, i can see that a lot of workshop set the camshaft pulley without using the right tool which is 'the cam timing kit' tools. As for me, i think that the method are not really accurate and they (mechanics) can't fully utilize the tuning power of the pulley. I didn't say that the setting without the tools is not good but it can be dangerous if set it wrongly and furthermore I'm very shock and angry if they charge us the same price like they are using the cam timing tools for setting. WTF?

The camshaft Timing Tools

just for viewing pleasure & this is not an ads!

Kit includes camshaft & crankshaft positioning tool, camshaft holding tool, secondary chain tensioner tool etc. Other than that we also need a degree wheel/ dial gauge or whatever you call it =p

The Degree Wheel of fortune?

We need to attach it to the crankshaft snout. With this we can identify the TDC or 'top dead center' and then the tuning process can begin. The next step is err? hmm. I think the real mechanic can help me to elaborate for you =p. I can just give you the rough idea of it =p. lolx.

The Camshaft Timing

I hope for those who wanna get your camshaft pulley tuned, better go for this method to avoid any misalignment, resulting in piston to valve damage! But if you still insist and don't wanna use this kind of method then find trusted and really good mechanic to get your pulley set.

That's all folks!

p/s: i will get my cam timing done with this method. for sure!
